Practical Intelligence is not-for-profit company that operates the Nailsworth Community Workshop in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.
We offer educational courses in traditional crafts. Our aim is to promote confidence and self-belief whilst developing practical skills. The groups are small and taught by skilled, professional craftsmen in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
We also run a Production Workshop and a Men’s Shed where we provide meaningful work and opportunities for people who are not in employment for whatever reason. All the pieces for sale at Cotswold Craftsmen, have been made in these sessions; and proceeds from sales help keep the sessions running.
Our community workshop is made available as a community resource at certain times of the week.
We recently started a project called Pi Guitars, that builds beautiful bespoke guitars with volunteers who may be struggling in life. The guitars are made completely from recycled and locally sourced timber, using responsibly-manufactured hardware. We aim to get finished guitars sponsored so that we can donate them to charities that use music to promote mental health.
